You're 100% correct! It interrupts the flow, and absolutely should never be used. I'm an editor for a pub here, we don't allow punctuation in Headlines or Subs. Thankfully, I haven't come across this when submitting to other Medium publications, but I'll definitely avoid those asking for punctuation in either🤦‍♀️
