Those are an awful lot of assumptions to make based on nothing stated in the piece. I also never mention my salary. Like many who haven't experienced financial struggle, it seems you may have begun to read with defensiveness & based on confirmation bias. I'm also flattered to be called "young," which based on societal demographics, I am most decidedly not. Nor do I ever "blame the government." It may be helpful to understand that even those who have followed what you deem "the right path" may not share your experiences. Surely not every individual included in the 76% of Americans who live paycheck to paycheck could be "irresponsible" or received a degree that doesn't align with your preconceived notions? I pray that you never find yourself in unforeseen circumstances that you can't fix by "pulling yourself up by the bootstraps" & following carefully laid plans.
