The Amazing Truth Behind a Tear-Inducing Christmas Ad

I’ll admit I’m a sucker for Christmas commercials. I weep more openly in thirty second spots tugging at my heartstrings than I do in real-life grief scenarios. I have issues. I’m working on ‘em.

Each year, I look forward to the ads which will resonate with me. I watch until my heart fills and I smile behind the tears. This year, the Etsy commercial featuring an elderly woman, a young, male grocery store clerk, and a pair of mittens wins hands down.

And my two favorite Christmas spots of all-time remain steadfast in their spots. Unless you have a heart made of dried date carcasses, both ensure an emotional response. The first, an ad for Allegro, features a story of a Polish grandfather, set to visit his grandchild in the United Kingdom for the first time.

The affable grandpa learns English via Allegro as he goes about his daily life. Laced with humor and sweetness, the ad ends with Grandpa meeting his sweet, young granddaughter.
