I never experienced the joy of rotary phones (although my mom had a defunct rotary in her closet & I used to fiddle around with it), but I think I just miss the life letters seemed to capture in a way emails & private messages can't. And I concur--instant gratification isn't all it's cracked up to be, at times it feels empty.
