I too felt an all-too-familiar sting of disappointment when I learned of the accusations against Ravi. To me, the man exuded Jesus in his Biblically-sound ministry & certainly helped me in my own relationship with God. But then I remembered everything you point out here, & found it to be a reminder that I am following Jesus and not His people. A freeing reminder that we are ALL sinners who constantly fall short of the glory of God…However, I too, pray that it will not cause tarnish on God’s reputation. If the accusations are true(& it is difficult for a dead man to rush to his own defense, but I’ve read enough to assume there may be some validity), it still makes my heart sad and I DO think our leaders are called to lead by example. It is also a gentle reminder that, in the cheesy words of “Jesus Freak"-era DC Talk: I am still a (person) in need of a savior. Jesus saved me once and for all, yes, but He saves me every day as well.
