I love Medium & the benefits of the platform are wonderful. However, it would be nice to feel cared about as a writer. As we are writing our hearts out & our butts off for far less than minimum wage (often), a straightforward approach from the platform would help. As much as Medium’s objective is to cultivate relationship between writer and reader, the objective would strengthen by cultivating relationship between writer and platform. How are earnings calculated, exactly? Why do reads earn varying amounts in different publications? Where are we going from here? And, can we know/ have input before changes occur? The old curation system was far better/ felt like more of a boost. It still rocks to see a piece earn further distribution, but sans email & knowledge of topics, it makes writers obsess more greatly over stats. Medium isby far the best writing platform I’ve experienced, but transparency in the process for writers would help them to soar above Newsbreak, Vocal, etc.
