I definitely agree with much of your take. Unfortunately, many (though not all) studios execs do see both writers and actors as ultimately expendable. Although I 100% agree that AI can be a useful tool and assistant, the US should adopt the same wariness and regulatory concerns for GPT-4 & beyond that other nations are trying to implement now.
