Alan, #1, I am just following the guidelines set in place by the publication’s founders, and explaining to potential writers why they are in place. #2, The great thing about publications is those who launch them can choose whatever guidelines they desire. Luckily, there is rhyme and reason behind those in place here. And, there are literally thousands of publications hosted on Medium. Thus, you can choose to submit or read those that adhere to your desires. I’m sorry that you find yourself in adamant disagreement with the rules in place here. They are also here to stay.
